Magic Bands have been in the testing phase for a while at the Walt Disney World theme parks, with the MyMagic+ program allowing some guests to book up to three Fastpasses at a time through the app or their bands. In addition to rides, those guests have also been able to book viewing spots for parades like the new Festival of Fantasy.
One big gap in the program has been the limitation that forces guests to book all their Fastpasses for the day at just one of the four parks. Both tourists and locals alike enjoy the ability to park hop throughout the day. For example, many begin their day at the Magic Kingdom, then hop over to another park when it gets too crowded, or they visit Disney's Animal Kingdom, then leave it at closing time to head to Epcot for some more ride time, capped by Illuminations.
That ability will come to pass as one of the next phases in the MyMagic+ program, according to Walt Disney Parks and Resorts chairman Tom Staggs.
MyMagic+ was recently made available to everyone, including Disney hotel guests, annual passholders, and day guests. Now Staggs says that soon guests will be able to start off with their three pre-selected Fastpasses, then make another selection at a kiosk in the park. Once it's used, they can book another, much like they did under the original Fastpass system.
Staggs also says that the park hopping enhancement is currently being worked on. However, he didn't share a time frame for either of those two changes. In the meantime, you can use the system as it currently stands whether or not you're staying at a Disney hotel and whether you have a regular ticket or an annual pass, as long as you sign up for MyMagic+ online.
