More far left brainwashing occurs at a graduation ceremony

Milford High School

There is probably not a public high school or university in America that lets a graduation ceremony go by without some ridiculous, uncalled for speech by a far left liberal. On April 28 it was Oakland University, and today, June 3, it was Milford High School.

The ceremony was going along without anything controversial. The valedictorians and salutatorians were recognized, there was a musical interlude, the class officers gave speeches, etc.

Then right before all the seniors walked up to receive their diplomas (a sibling of yours truly was one of those seniors), Principal Kevin McKenna introduced the graduating senior who would be giving the commencement address.

McKenna claimed that Cosmo Pappas walked up to him this past January and asked, “Mr. McKenna, what does it take to make a speech at the graduation ceremony this June?”

Well, Pappas gave his speech, and through a series of code words and subtle rhetoric, it was chalk full of far left liberal garbage.

Pappas got up there and immediately went to work talking about how every day he wakes up and feels like crap because he thinks about how there is inequality in the world, and how it is evil that there are people in the world who don’t have what they should have.

Pappas talked about how the world has achieved the means to take care of everyone, but because there are haves and have-nots, the world is inherently unfair. In addition to “inequality,” he used typical far left buzzwords like social justice, intolerance, diversity, and of course, racism.

He said that although he enjoyed his time at Milford High (IE, a small community), the world community is what matters. He said his fellow graduates need to go out and change the world by trying to eliminate “evils” like racism (Milford High School is close to 100 percent white, which means the subtle message is that the school’s whiteness is inherently racist).

He finished his despicable diatribe by quoting not any of the Framers or any honorable historical figure, but by quoting a guy who has made his fame appearing on The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. That guy is Neil deGrasse Tyson, who apparently is a proud supporter of the “animal rights” terrorist group known as PETA:

“Tyson collaborated with PETA on a PSA that stated, ‘You don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that kindness is a virtue.’ He also granted PETA an interview, in which he discussed the concept of intelligence (both of human and other animals), the failure of humans to heretofore communicate meaningfully with other animals, and the need of humans to be empathetic.”

Now, to make it perfectly clear, Pappas is a 17 or 18 year old kid. He isn’t the villain even though his ideology is abhorrent. The villain here is Milford High School for giving him a platform to speak.

It’s not like McKenna or any of the MHS administrators didn’t know what he was going to say. They probably approved of his speech and thought it was fitting for a commencement address.

Perhaps no other student was willing to give a commencement address (somehow that seems unlikely), but even if that’s the case, there shouldn’t have been a commencement address at all.

Milford is home to one of the largest tea party groups in the state, so it is highly unlikely that the people in attendance shared his views. A commencement speech is supposed to reinforce values the community holds. It is not meant for indoctrination into the repulsive ideology of Progressivism/liberalism, and it is certainly not meant to encourage people to feel like crap because of the “inequality” in the world (side note: inequality is inevitable and is never going away).

But these days, public high schools don’t care, not Milford High, and probably not any other. By and large, we don’t have education in this country, we have brainwashing institutions. The results speak for themselves. As Vladimir Lenin said:

“Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted. Give us the child for 8 years and it will be a Bolshevik forever.”

Public schools like Milford High take Lenin literally, so of course none of them are going to let a graduation ceremony go by without a speech and/or honor given to someone whose beliefs are completely foreign to everything that made America the most prosperous nation on earth, and everything that made Western Civilization the most successful civilization that the world has ever seen.
