(c) HSMO "One of the dogs from the pit bull fighting ring raid"
Everyone by now knows about the largest dog fighting raid in history, everyone knows these dogs were used by bad people and only knew fighting each other, but one thing people do not realize is that they are just dogs looking for a second chance. These dogs have been handled, tested and praised for their great efforts to over turn everyone’s expectations of them. They are turning out to be great dogs that just needed to be loved and have attention. Not attention to fight. Alarming to the public, there were over two-thirds of the dogs that actually did not show any signs of aggression. If you are interested in fostering or adopting one of these dogs click here: Humane Society of Missouri
There have been stories about three of the dogs that recently went to their new homes, and now there are more. From the Humane Society of Missouri, there are over 120 pit bulls that have already been placed in foster homes and another 117 are just waiting their turn to go to a home. There were originally 100 pit bulls that had been taken by other rescue groups to help with the overflow when the raid took place several months ago. To the sad truth, there were about 160 pit bulls that did have to be put to death due to such severe injuries, irreversible illnesses, or their behavior was so far gone that they would never recover emotionally. It is sad that they had to do this but look at how many were saved and how many are betting the odds and going on to be fostered into homes.
The Humane Society of Missouri gave the Associated Press first access to come in a see what was truly going on with these pit bulls. To see the video just click here.

Good for the ones that have made it and those on their way. They are dogs first, "pit bulls" second and fighters only as a last resport. Their biggest flaw is also their greatest asset. Their loyalty. The dogs will be or do whatever their person asks of them and they will do it with every fiber of their bing until their last breath. The intention of the person makes the dog.
Thanks Tammy for your comment and I really think it's right on. I have a APBT and she is so sweet but she is so very loyal. She does anything I ask and always know what is expected of her. Those dogs are no different except they lived in a different environment. Now they need to be shown a new environment and how to please their new owners by just being in the house and existing side-by-side with their new owners. Being treated as a prize to have not as a fighter to get a prize. The dog is the prize. They all are! They give the best prize of all though, unconditional love.
Thanks again for expressing your comment here. They are all welcome.
