Rumors have swirled that Bioware may re-release the original Mass Effect trilogy on the Xbox One and Playstation 4. This would supposedly allow for current fans to play through the series again with enhanced visuals while newcomers could be given another chance to see what the games are like before the upcoming release of the fourth Mass Effect title. Providing more evidence pointing at the new-generation launch of the trilogy, Game Informer reported on April 27 that one retailer now actually has a listing for the Mass Effect trilogy re-release on Xbox One and PS4.

Game Informer points out that ZMart, a Chilean retailer, has product listings for Xbox One and PS4 versions of an updated Mass Effect trilogy. However, it is important to note that there currently is no price point or release date attached to the products at this time. While listings do help fuel the hope for a re-release of Bioware’s popular sci-fi franchise, the retailer could simply be preparing in the event that an updated Mass Effect bundle is ever released in the future.

Looking forward in the series, Bioware is currently working on the next entry of the Mass Effect series. All that the developer has revealed about the game is that it will introduce a new main character as Commander Shepard’s narrative concluded in the original trilogy. Beyond that, no other details are known. The game could possibly take place during a different point in time. Bioware hasn’t even confirmed what platforms the new Mass Effect game will be available on. However, they did recently hint that it would be coming to the Xbox One and PS4.

There currently is no release window set for the upcoming Mass Effect title. The developer has specified their interest on making the game right instead of quickly. Bioware is building the next entry of their popular series using the Frostbite 3 engine.
