It appears that the recently injured Alberto Del Rio is set to return to the WWE very soon. According to a Friday February 10th report by WrestlingInc.com, Del Rio is being heavily advertised for WWE live events this weekend in San Francisco, California. Del Rio is scheduled to take on the 2012 Royal Rumble winner Sheamus in a special RAW vs. SmackDown superstar challenge. Additionally, it's a battle of the most recent Rumble winners as Del Rio won it last in 2011.
Del Rio has been nursing a torn groin since late December. Many fans are hoping that Del Rio somehow is placed in the RAW Elimination Chamber match for the WWE title on Sunday February 19th. There's a small buzz coming from within the WWE that some officials want to see Del Rio in this match as well. However, this is just a rumor as of now.
As always, cards are subject to change and Del Rio could miss this weekend's events if he's not health enough. The WWE has done this before where they allow the advertisements for wrestlers to continue and announce at the events that the star won't be there due to injuries. I expect Del Rio to return to WWE television sometime this month, most likely after the Elimination Chamber PPV.
