More details behind Zack Ryder being written off WWE TV

Former U.S. Champion Zack Ryder was written off WWE TV earlier this week after suffering a broken back due to a savage attack by Kane on Monday Night RAW. Ryder had recently been demoted due to poor RAW ratings last month and many think that his storyline injury was further ramifications from the demotion. However, there's an alternate theory for Ryder's absence that is starting to gain some traction. According to a Thursday January 26th report by The Wrestling Observer, Ryder's absence might be due to his participation in filming shows for the WWE Network.

There's a backstage buzz that Ryder could be taking his Youtube series to the WWE Network. Additionally, it's rumored that he might be off filming a movie for the WWE. If either of these rumors are true, then the WWE should have used it as part of his storyline and not have him play the victim to Kane for the last month.

Additionally, if these rumors are true, then they would have been in the works during WWE's reported decision to demote Ryder late December. These rumored possibilities don't seem to line up with WWE's recent actions. Ryder's popularity and on-air is a direct result from his Youtube series. If the WWE was going to bring it to their Network, or allow him to film a movie, then these opportunities would further enhance his character and not warrant an injury angle or a demotion.
