More controversy surrounding Phil Robertson and his views

Phil Robertson may be most remembered for his anti-gay comments, but he made another remark that is coming back to haunt him. Courtney Stodden has much to say on the topic of child brides. In December 2013, an old 2009 video surfaced. Phil gave some advice to young men at a Sportsman’s Ministry talk in which Phil made that girls should be married when they are 15 or 16 years old.

Courtney was 16 when she married 51 year-old Doug Hutchinson. At the time, she had thought age did not matter. It didn't take Courtney long to realize that the 34 year age gap made a great deal of difference. It caused a major rift in their short marriage. The other matter reason that their marriage failed was because she wanted to have a breast augmentation. He was against the idea.

Some people think Phil was serious when that video tape was made. Others believe he was kidding because you can hear laughter in the crowd right after his remark.

In Phil's book, Happy, Happy, Happy; My Life and Legacy as the Duck Commander, he wrote; "Miss Kay was the perfect woman for me. I was sixteen and she was fifteen when we were married. Nowadays some people might frown on people getting married that young, but I knew that if you married a woman when she was fifteen, she would pluck your ducks. If you waited until she was twenty, she would only pick your pockets."

Phil and Miss Kay have been married for 49 years. According to an interview on the "700 Club", they struggled through the first 10 years of marriage. At that time, Phil ran a bar, and lived a hard life of drinking, drugs and fighting.
