More Chicago radio philanthropy from Eric and Kathy

Mix 101.9 morning hosts Eric and Kathy

No sooner did I finish posting word of Q101’s impending Last Letter Game Marathon to raise money for Reading is Fundamental, then do I come across word from 101.9 the Mix that morning monsters Eric and Kathy are bracing for their annual 36-hour radiothon to benefit Children’s Hospital of Chicago. This year’s iteration of the annual event kicks off Friday September 11 and continues on into Saturday.

As opposed to Q101’s event which features music as a reason for people to donate, The Mix takes a different tact talking with the staff, parents and patients of Children's Hospital. It is impossible to listen and not be moved by the stories, especially those told by the courageous kids themselves who are often facing crippling diseases and possible death, often with a smile and a laugh.

Pledges can be made during the radiothon by phone or on the station Web site. There is also a message board where listeners can share their stories of experiences at Children’s Hospital. Be sure to take a look. You will be likely be amazed how many of your friends and neighbors lives have been touched by this great Chicago institution.
