More charity knitting

Back in April 2011, I wrote an article about our church beginning a new group for making handmade items for charity. I have only been able to make a few meetings since then, but tonight, even with all the sleet and potential for snow, I ventured to the church to work on some projects.

Tonight I started on two projects. The goal is to have them finished in a month when we meet again. I began a purple hat for a baby with some Red Heart yarn and then I began a scarf with some bulky yarn. The pattern for the baby hat was found on the label and I have more details over on Ravelry. The scarf is basically all knit. I cast on twenty stitches and I'm just going to knit until the skein is finished. There are more details over on Ravelry.

So what types of things do you make for charity? The most common items are scarfs, hats and blankets. Our Girl Scout council is holding a lock-in and one of the items you have to give when you enter is to bring either a hat or scarf to give those who have been diagnosed with cancer. It's a worthy cause and my girls and I plan on making some scarves and hats to donate. I'm going to teach them how to sew them which is really easy. I will definitely post the pattern and pictures once we make some.

So let me know what you do for charity. Feel free to post links to patterns. I love patterns!
