Following on the footsteps of co-host Joy Behar, US Weekly is reporting that Elisabeth Hasselbeck will not be returning to the view after this season. Unlike Behar, it is reported that Hasselbeck’s contract will not be renewed. Viewers found her to be too right wing and intolerable, it seems.
"The viewers they polled all said she was too extreme and right wing," the insider tells Us. "People did not watch the show because of Elisabeth. So they told her yesterday her contract would not be renewed."
Hasselbeck joined the cast 9 years ago, replacing Lisa Ling in 2002. She was formerly a contest on reality show, Survivor. In the 9 years she has been on the show, she has had 3 children and has provided the right wing contrast to the other co-hosts’ more liberal views.
Joy Behar announced on Thursday she will not be returning after a nearly 17 year run. She has stated that “it felt too much like going to work”. She was the last remaining original co-host. Behar can be seen on Joy Behar: Say Anything! on Current TV.
Now that half of the cast will need to be replaced, any ideas on who could be filling the spots? Should the show continue with so much up in the air? Sound off in the comments!
