Inaugural Cherry Blossom Festival – April 23rd through May 4th at the Japanese Garden in Delaware Park, located behind the Buffalo History Museum. The festival will feature 12 days of entertainment, cultural presentations and activities, most of which will be free and open to the public. Events include a Japanese tea ceremony, Japanese food demonstration and sake tasting, an orienteering event and Family Day at the Buffalo History Museum. Wine and Herb Festival – Friday through Sunday, April 25th through 27th and May 2nd through 4th at participating wineries on the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail. Start your garden this weekend by collecting a potted herb or veggie plant from each winery, as well as a wine glass, garden plan and plant carrier at your first winery. Hours are Friday 1 to 5 p.m. (selected wineries), Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; tickets are $40 per person in advance and $45 at the door, or $60 per couple in advance and $65 at the door, while designated driver tickets are $35 per person and $55 per couple – visit cayugawinetrail.com for complete details.

2014 Undy 500 – Saturday, April 26th at 9 a.m. at Delaware Park in Buffalo (Amherst/Colvin green space). The 5K race and one-mile fun run benefits the Colon Cancer Alliance. Registration fees are $30 in advance, $40 on race day for adults (14 and older); $25 in advance, $35 on race day for youth ages 6 to 13; and $20 in advance, $30 on race day for the one-mile fun run.
