Looking absolutely “freakish,” according to some reports, North Carolina’s Rob Moran captured the 2010 WNBF Natural Nationals (on Saturday, July 10, at the prestigious La Jolla Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego. More than $6,000 in cash and prizes were distributed to the winners.
After winning his pro card in 2007 and finishing 5th in his pro debut at the WNBF Pro International in 2008, Moran, 30, took a year off to get married and relocate from his native New York to North Carolina where he works as Vice President of Administration for Scivation, Inc. The year-long respite apparently paid off as Moran overcame a formidable lightweight class including Omar “The Sculptor” Raissuni and Joe “The Italian Stallion” Valentino before advancing to defeat Heavyweight Champion Luis Burgos for the overall title.
Burgos, who was making his pro debut after earning his pro card at the recent INBF Northern California Classic in Sacramento, won over a tough group of heavyweights including Cincinnati’s “Gymbo the Natural” Collins, also making his pro debut.
Amanda McDonald won the Pro Women’s Bodybuilding event, and Canada’s Rozanne Pyper took first place honors in the Pro Fit Body competition.
