Moral equivalencies...again

Critics, anti- Zionists, Jew haters, leftists and Westernized Muslims have long struggled to find moral equivalencies between Israel and its enemies. If it can show that Israel is no different than Palestine then the murderous actions of terrorists can somehow be justified because they don’t possess the same killing mechanisms as the Jews.

Suicide bombers blow up pizza parlors and Palestinian school girls get mysteriously sick and the PA blames Israel for poisoning the water.

Hama’s shoots rockets indiscriminately to kill Jews, and when one of Israel’s rockets actually goes haywire and strikes a civilian target, Palestinian supporters come out in droves to say “see, Jews kill civilians too.”

Israeli school children playing hooky from school accidentally wander into Palestinian territory and by the time Israeli soldiers find them, their bodies are so mutilated their own parents can’t even recognize them.

Then when Muhammad Dura is killed in a crossfire between the IDF and Palestinian terrorists, great pains are taken to convince the world that Israel murdered that poor unfortunate child in cold blood.

The latest attempt to show that Israelis are as bad as Palestinians or Palestinians are as good as Israelis depending on whether you consider the glass to be half full or half empty, is a recent study and subsequent articles that determined that both sides are teaching their children that the “other” is the enemy.

This smacks of earlier revelations that Israeli schoolbooks however naïve clearly taught their children to live in peace with their Palestinian neighbors, because back then it was still widely assumed that peace with Palestine was coming. But, Palestinian school books showed something very different. Translations of these books show that Jews are evil, are the work of the devil, and that they stole the land from the poor Palestinian and only through the gun can they get it back. Take revenge for 1948 and beyond.

What do you expect when their parents are reading and distributing the “Protocols of the Elders of Zion.”

Even that is now blamed on other Arab countries and absolves the Palestinians of this hatred “It recycled Jordanian and Egyptian schoolbooks until it began to write its own curriculum in 2000, progressively erasing confrontational references to Jews and celebrations of martyrdom.”

If Palestinians have done this even a little I applaud it. The problem is that their hatred of Jews and Israel has only grown in the last ten years, not waned. So, whatever they were doing apparently didn’t work. That is, if you think they actually did something to diffuse the hatred.

The new study suggests that Israel is distorting Palestinian history as much as Palestine is distorting Israel's.

If you wish to read the actual study and want to see the distortions for yourself go here.
