While this is not a shocker, based on the reality TV show he stars on, it is still news. Police announced on Tuesday "Moonshiners" star Steven Ray Tickle, known on the show just as "Tickle," has been arrested for public intoxication.
According to reports, although authorities announced the arrest on Tuesday, it actually took place in Danville, Va. last Thursday afternoon after a police officer found tickle drinking alone in his car, which was parked in a convenience store parking lot.
As the officer approached the car, he could smell alcohol coming from Tickle's vehicle. The officer said he attempted to make arrangements for someone to pick up the 35-year-old and take him home, but without success. The officer then placed Tickle under arrest for being drunk in public.
Tickle was taken to Danville City Jail and was released later that day. It is unclear if he has a lawyer.
According to Wikipedia, "Moonshiners" is a Discovery Channel reality TV show that dramatizes the life of people who produce moonshine in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.
However, despite the fact that many believe these moonshiners are illegally producing liquor, Virginia authorities have denied such activity. The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control said in March 2012 that,
If illegal activity was actually taking place, the Virginia ABC Bureau of Law Enforcement would have taken action.
The show's website describes Tickle as "a hard working still hand who loves moonshine."
