Danville, Virginia The television reality show Moonshiners Discovery Channel, that made homemade white lightening regular part of pop culture, is about individuals and families carrying on the tradition of making whiskey and keep it under wraps while making a profit. The show actually shows real Virginia moonshining residents and state agents. One of the stars of the famous show was arrested in Danville, Virginia for failing to contain his container and himself.
Moonshining is an art
Say it ain’t so. Black market liquor also known as “Mountain Dew” and “Hooch,” rotgut and bathtub gin, is a high-stilled spirit produced illicitly, without a license. The police station was getting reports of a man drinking outside in a car. The officer went to check on the call and could smell alcohol as he approached Tickle sitting in his vehicle outside a convenience store in the parking lot. Tickle could make no calls to find someone to pick him up and take him home for the night so he was arrested and taken in.
Moonshining is on the rise due to the economy
The state of Virginia and its officials do not like the television reality show claiming it doesn’t show what it’s like to be on the long arm of the law. Virginia Department of Alcohol Beverage Control Spokeswoman Kathleen Shaw told The Associated Press in an email that viewers ask why illegal action is allowed to take place. “The show is a dramatization and no illegal liquor is being made.”
Moonshiners and their families often lead the tradition of alcohol culture and abuse embedded in the family history.
