Former Hawks, Nets, and Warriors PG Mookie Blaylock is heading to jail today to serve the remainder of a jail sentence handed down as a result of a DUI incident in March 2013.
Blaylock was sentenced to 30 days in jail, but has already been credited with serving 14 days of his time prior to posting a bond for $250,000. With the guilty plea earlier this week, Blaylock will return to the Spalding County jail to serve the remainder of his sentence. After his sentence, he will need to report to a rehabilitation facility for treatment.
Blaylock is also facing charges for his role in another accident in May 2013 that killed a woman in a head-on collision. Blaylock's attorneys say the former NBA star "blacked out" prior to crossing the median in his vehicle and striking another car, killing the other driver. His court appearance with regards to the May 2013 incident has not been set yet.
Blaylock spent 13 seasons in the NBA and was a two-time pick for the NBA's All-Defensive team. He spent seven season with the Hawks from 1992 to 1999.
