Fans of classic progressive rock group the Moody Blues will have a chance to get up close and personal with the band during this year’s edition of The Moody Blues Cruise, ready to set sail April 2-7, 2014. The rockin’ ocean adventure will take place aboard cruise ship MSC Divina, one of MSC's newest ships, as she sails from Miami to Nassau in the Bahamas and to Grand Turk Island, Turks & Caicos.
The current line-up of the Moody Blues features founding member Graeme Edge and longtime vocalists Justin Hayward and John Lodge and guests on the cruise will not only get to hear the band play in an intimate setting, they’ll have a chance to interact with the legendary players during special events and activities including Q&A sessions. “Return to the Isle of Wight” is the theme of this year’s Moody Blues Cruise, a reference to the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival where the Moodies played one of their most memorable sets ever. The Who also played Isle of Wight in ’70 and Who singer Roger Daltrey will appear performing a set that’ll include favorites from The Who’s vast catalog. The Moodies/Daltrey pairing presents the two acts on the same bill for the first time since the festival 44-years ago.
The five-day cruise will also feature performances from Carl Palmer of Emerson, Lake & Palmer, guitarist Shawn Phillips, Strawbs, The Zombies, Lighthouse, Starship, Joe Williams of Toto, The Little River Band, The Orchestra featuring members of Electric Light Orchestra, Glass Hammer and Sound of Contact featuring Simon Collins, son of Phil Collins. Rounding out the musical line-up are Randy Hansen (Jimi Hendrix tribute), Danny Vaughn (Eagles tribute), The Prog Rock Orchestra, Heavy Mellow, Mellow Yellow and Cheap Thrill. Admission to all performances is included in the cruise fare. Shore excursions in the Bahamas and Grand Turk Island are available at an additional cost.
This is the second sailing of The Moody Blues Cruise; last year’s event sold out quickly. Tickets for the 2014 sailing are only available at the official The Moody Blues Cruise website.
