Monty Python’s Spamalot is returning to San Antonio in March for two performances at the Majestic Theatre. Tickets for the Tony Award winning Best Musical of 2005 go on sale tomorrow, Friday, January 25, at 10a.m.
Monty Python’s Spamalot is a musical comedy “lovingly ripped off from” the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It is a parody of the legendary tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table and their quest for the Holy Grail and features a chorus line of dancing divas and knights, flatulent Frenchmen, killer rabbits and one legless knight. Musical numbers include “The Song That Goes Like This” and “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life."
Written by Eric Idle it is based on the movie’s screenplay by Monty Python creators with music and lyrics by Eric Idle and John Du Prez. Monty Python is a group of British actors and writers (and one American) responsible for the famous comedy show Monty Python’s Flying Circus which aired on the BBC from 1969 to 1974.
