It’s been just over a week since Judge Brown at the Montrose Municipal Court demanded that Dutch be turned into animal control to be put down. Dutch is the service dog who belongs disabled veteran, Jeremy Aguilar. The dog is accused of attacking his previous owner while he was in her care while Jeremy was away. Feb. 21, 2013 animal control and the courts have stated that Dutch was never turned in and that a contempt complaint has not been filed at this time. There are several Facebook pages in support of Dutch and the Aguilar’s as well as several petitions that have circulated many of which made their way to us here in the Puget Sound over the weekend. A few rumors were even passed around that Dutch was here in the Tacoma area since he has so many supporters here. It is still unknown if the Aguilar’s attorney was able to file an appeal to Judge Brown’s decision or not.
The attack happened after the previous owner beat Dutch with her hands and a metal pole and then dragged him inside her home where after grabbing him by the mouth he bit her. She claims that she had to hit Dutch in order to break up a dog fight, however, there has been no known evidence showing that a dog fight took place and Dutch’s injuries are not consistent with a dog fight. Dutch was badly beaten and those that are in support of Dutch and the Aguilar’s theorize that the dog fight never happened and that Dutch bit her out of fear for his own life but no one knows why she would have beat the dog in the first place.
