The City of Montreal is announcing the details today about its plans to upgrade the bus system, especially where West Island commuters are concerned. Bus frequency will be increased and departure timing will be better synchronized with the train service already serving the municipalities.

The cherry on the sundae for those living closer to the center of town will be a city subsidized shuttle from Trudeau International airport to downtown, all for a very affordable $7 fee which will include a bus/metro transfer. The shuttle drop off point(s) will be convenient for access to the rest of the public transit network - a welcome arrival for those currently forced to shell out close to $40 for a taxi.

If they could only avoid the prime time congestion that these buses will still endure and get a high-speed rail link going. Now THAT would be something.
