SXSW 2010 features a number of Montreal bands

SXSW or South by Southwest is a series of festivals and conferences in Austin, Texas includes one of the biggest, if not the biggest music festival in North America, featuring hundreds upon hundreds of concerts and bands over a five-day period in March. In its 24th year, a slew of Montreal bands have once again managed to crack the line-up to show off what differentiates this city musically from the rest of the world. They are:

Melissa Auf Der Maur (Rock)
Voivod (Metal)
Huggs (Electronic)
Priestess (Metal)
Duchess Says (Punk) – Local talent artist
Silver Starling (rock)
Winter Gloves (Pop) - Local talent artist
The Besnard Lakes (Rock)
Ghislain Poirier ft MC Zulu (Reggae)
Final Flash (Rock)
Plants and Animals (Rock)
Empire Isis (Pop)
The Peelies (Rock)
Radio Radio (Hip-Hop/Rap)

There is even a rocking M for Montreal showcase at a venue called Paradise featuring La Patere Rose, The Lovely Feathers (Local talent artist), Parlovr, Duchess Says, Think About Life and We Are Wolves.

The festival is so massive that it’s hard to find a comprehensive list of all the bands that are performing, so this list may noteven  be complete. That said, even if some bands have been left off, all the artists mentioned above on top of amazing international artists should be enough to get any music fan on a plane.
