The Montreal animal advocacy enthusiasm has grown through out the years. The year 2012 was very engaging and people gave their voice to animals. New groups joined the movement and new activists that are tired of exploitation of animals also joined the crowds at protests. Although the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food made some improvements to the regulations that concern companion animals, there is still much work to be done in the name of animals.
According to the Animal League Defense Fund, Quebec remains the number one province where it is ideal to be an animal abuser. On the 2012 Canadian Animal Protection Laws Rankings™, Quebec has not been able to move up and try to ameliorate the situation for animals. Puppy millers, backyard breeders, circus with exotic animals, the government not supporting the efforts of rescues and adoptions, the slaughter of so many animals still prevails in this province.
Animal activists are becoming more active and raising awareness about all these issues. Many events took place this year in Montreal, and advocates from all over the world are using social media to raise awareness and save animals. Although Quebec is still low on animal abuse action, the voices of animal advocates are getting louder.
The following video is just a glimpse of the events and some of the people that I was able to share time with, advocating for animals. From pet adoption to anti-rodeo protests…animal advocates taking action in order to educate about animal abuse.
Thank you to all the kind souls that gave their voice to animals. Keep on pushing for a better tomorrow and hope for those without a voice.
