Feb 9, 2014 - Kebek Animal Rights Association (KARA), In Defense of Animals (IDA) and 269Life, gathered to celebrate National Anti-Fur Day. This is Canada’s 25th National Anti-Fur Day Protest. This is the second year in which Montreal participates in this commemorative day for all Canadian animal advocates.
More than 50 animal activists of all ages stood at their traditional location at Philips Square facing the retail store The Bay. Although the temperature was well below the freezing point, the activists once again stood ground with posters, a laptop with a video and offered people information about trapping and the staggering numbers of animals murdered for the fur trimmed jackets and other products.
Since 1989, the National Anti-Fur Day Page on Facebook states that they are Canada's 1st and longest running national campaign against the fur trade. KARA has been very active since 2012 with the start of their silent campaign vigils. KARA has committed itself to have continuity in their advocacy against the fur trade, until the day Canada is free from the cruelty of fur and any other form of animal exploitation.
These winter coats are a deadly virus! People are not aware how they endorse pain, suffering and death by wearing Canada Goose jackets! - Marie-Claude Gagne (Co-founder of KARA)
