Monterey Jazz Festival celebrates 55th aniversary at Segerstrom

The Monterey Jazz Festival will celebrates its 55th anniversary with a concert at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa on Sunday, January 13, at 4pm. This concert marks the third North American tour. Of course, the Monterey Jazz Festival is held every September on the Monterey County Fairgrounds. The members of this touring group include: vocalist DeeDee Bridgewater, bassist Christian McBride, pianist Benny Green, drummer Louis Nash, saxophonist Chris Potter and trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire.

The Monterey Jazz Festival was founded in 1958 and it kicks off 2013 by presenting a series of all-star concerts. It is the longest running jazz festival in the world. Over the years, so many great artists have performed there from legendary Billie Holiday and Louis Armstrong to the up and coming Esperanza Spalding. This should be a fabulous series of concerts and if you have the opportunity to check it out, please do so. The Segerstrom Center for the Arts is located on 615 Town Center Drive. Tickets can be obtained online at www.scfta.org or by calling 714-556-2787. The box office is open from 10am to 6pm.
