The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Monterey County in Calif. is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) abandoning a neglected and suffering horse found near San Miguel Canyon Road on Sunday reported kion46news.

The red and white gelding suffered from a painful leg deformity, most likely caused by extreme neglect. The horse's age was estimated to be between 12 and 15 years. The malnourished horse's hooves had not been trimmed in several months. Authorities determined the horse was in extreme pain.

Sadly, based on the recommendation of veterinarians, the horse was humanely euthanized.

Rest in peace beautiful horse.
