Montell Jordan, along with Victory World Music, was honored with his first Dove Award nomination on Wednesday morning, August 22, when the nominations were announced in Nashville, Tennessee.

“I was thrilled when I heard the news about the Dove nomination for Shake Heaven and I am so proud of the team at Victory World Music,” said Jordan. “I felt like I had come home when I started recording Christian music and when I could sing lyrics to praise Jesus and the good news He brings to everyone. I am so grateful for the support I have received from my peers in the industry and especially to those artists who took part in this current project. And now with the honor of this nomination, I feel so very, very blessed.”

Jordan was nominated for his current project, Shake Heaven, which was nominated for Contemporary Gospel/Urban Album of the Year. The 2-disc project features a full-length CD and a live performance DVD of the album. Guest artists on the project include Israel Houghton and New Breed, Chris August, Martha Munizzi and others.

In March, The Gospel Music Association announced that the Dove Awards would return to Nashville for a fall awards show on Tuesday, October 15 at Allen Arena on the campus of Lipscomb University. For more on the Dove Awards, visit www.doveawards.com.

Shake Heaven reached #3 on Billboard’s Gospel Album chart and the title track reached #25 on the AC singles chart. The second single from the album, “You Are,” features a duet with Chris August and is now being played at Christian radio stations across the country, including WFSH/Atlanta, GA; WBSN/New Orleans, LA; WTRJ/Jacksonville, FL; WDJC/Birmingham, AL and WQME/Indianapolis, IN.
