There’s a new beer in town, one that hails from south of the border and that is now distributed throughout Southeast Texas and soon to nearby areas.
The new beer is Montejo, the first Anheuser- Busch Mexican import beer. Popular among Mexican locals and tourists who have traveled to Mexico, Montejo is now available in select Texas markets through Texas City- based Del Papa Distributing.
“We’re thrilled to bring this regional favorite to beer drinkers in Southeast Texas for the first time,” said Luis Sanchez, Anheuser-Busch brand development manager for Del Papa Distributing. “Mexican imports account for a large percentage of the import market and we’re pleased to meet consumer demand for an authentic, distinctly Mexican lager by offering Montejo.”
Texas is one of just four states to take part in the initial rollout of Montejo beer. Del Papa will distribute the beer in the Texas City, Beaumont, and Victoria areas. Montejo is a lighter lager that pairs well with Mexican cuisine and with hot summer days- two things that are in great abundance in these greater Houston metropolitan regions.
Montejo will be sold in six packs and twelve packs of 12 oz. bottles. In the future, depending on demand, it may be available in other package sizes and in kegs. Look for it in area retailers starting immediately.
