Montana Lady Griz take over first place in Big Sky Conference women's basketball

The Montana women's basketball team took over possession of first place in the Big Sky Conference with a 72-61 win over Portland State Thursday at Dahlberg Arena. Before this game the Lady Griz were tied with Montana State Bobcats for first.

The game was a nail biter when it was tied at 57-57 with five minutes left. Then Montana (9-2 conference, 15-5 overall) went on an 11-0 run. Katie Baker finished with 15 points and nine rebounds for the Lady Griz, followed by guard Kellie Cole with 14 points and seven rebounds.

The Big Sky Conference schedule just reached its midway point for most teams last weekend, with 10 games in the books and still 10 yet to be played.

Montana is 9-2 at home this season, with losses coming by two points against Wyoming, 58-55, and nine points against Montana State, 58-49.

On Saturday, February 2, Eastern Washington comes to Missoula. Game time at Dahlberg Arena is 2 p.m. local time.
