Just 24 hours after taking the lead in the WSHL's Western Division, the Tier III Fresno Monsters returned to home ice for another tilt with the Arizona Redhawks. The Monsters had another strong performance and strengthened their record in the process.
The Monsters came storming out of the gates, scoring 6 goals in the first period. The slowed down and scored one in the second, then added three more to the pot in the final period.
Several of the Monsters' players had big games on the score sheet. J.R. Lafferty had 1 goal and 2 assists. Tyler Lazarek had 3 assists. Jason "Nutbar" Beisinger, Nick McKee, Rob Kolander and Josiah Nikkel all had 2 goals apiece. Martin Lundberg added to his impressive season with a goal and an assist as well.
Beisinger's second goal ended up being the game winner and for those that don't know, he's one of several players on the WSHL team that is from the Fresno area and grew up playing here.
With Saturday's win, the Monsters improved to 10-1 on the season. The remain in first place in their division and look to extend that lead with another game against Arizona at Gateway Ice Center at 10:00 AM on Sunday.
