Monsters of Folk supergroup to release debut

Monsters of Folk—an indie-folk supergroup with an impressive roster of American singer-songwriters—will release their self-titled debut album on September 22. Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis of Bright Eyes, Jim James of My Morning Jacket, and M. Ward began playing together in 2004 as they toured under the name, or enticing marquee, “An Evening With: Bright Eyes, Jim James and M. Ward.” Fans and folks close to the band began referring to the group as “Monsters of Folk” and the not so humble name eventually stuck.

Yesterday, the group released the artwork for the album. The ornately illustrated portraits of the four members was created by artist Matthew Hollings.
