October 11, 2010 through October 17, 2010 is Houston Beer Week- the first of its kind in the Bayou City and the start of a celebration that will hopefully last indefinitely. The finale of Houston Beer Week is the Monsters of Beer event, scheduled for the final day of the festivities. Here are the facts on this event:
Who: Houston Beer Week organizers and supporters
What: Monsters of Beer, organized by Cathy Clark
Where: Outdoors, around 13 Celsius, located at 3000 Caroline St. in Houston, Texas
When: Sunday, October 17, from noon to 6pm
Why: To sample beer from several Houston area and other Texas breweries
Admission to the Monsters of Beer costs $20 if purchased in advance or $30 purchased at the gate. The admission cost includes a small tasting glass and access to sample beer from the sponsoring breweries. Samples are limited until 4pm. After that point, guests can go back for seconds and thirds, provided any beer is still available.
Participating breweries include 512 Brewery, Live Oak Brewing, Jester King Brewery, Ranger Creek Brewery, No Label Brewing, Rahr & Son Brewery, St. Arnold Brewery, Real Ale Brewery, and Southern Star Brewing. Each brewery will have at least two brands of its beer on hand to sample.
Music entertainment will be provided by an assortment of bands. They include Young Girls, Castle Lights, Mason Lankford and the Folk Family Revival, and Chase Hamblin
Food will be served by Hubcap Burger, Melange Creperie, and Sylvia’s Enchilada Kitchen. 13 Celsius will not be serving any alcohol during the event, but will remain open for purchasing food.
In addition to the fun, food, and beer, guests will also support an important cause, with proceeds benefitting the organization Friday Harbour.
Beer, food, music, and charity- with a lineup like this, it makes no sense to miss such a worthwhile event. Go to the Monsters of Beer website to make an advance purchase, mark your calendar, and prepare for an afternoon of entertainment.
