Scary striders and whimsical walkers race to Milwaukee’s Whitnall Park for the Monster Run on Saturday, October 19.
Benefiting Razor Sharp Minds Foundation, the first annual Monster Run sports a quarter marathon, a 5K, and a fun run for kids. The festivities include Goblin Games for kids, costume judging, and a pumpkin-carving contest.
Advance registration closes at midnight on Thursday, October 17, for the 2013 Monster Run in Milwaukee. Participants may choose from the Wickedly Wild Quarter Marathon, the Goose Bump Filled 5k, and the Frightfully Fun Kids’ Run. All three Halloween costume races take runners through Whitnall Park. Registrations may be available at higher prices at packet pickup, if space allows.
Packet pickup is set for Friday, October 18, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, October 19, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., in the Macy’s Court at Southridge Mall, 5300 South 76th Street, in Greendale, Wisconsin.
Commemorative tee shirts are available for Monster Run participants, Quarter marathon finishers receive medals after completing their race.
The Kids’ Run begins at 4 p.m. on October 19, followed by the quarter marathon and 5K at 4:45 p.m. Kids’ Run distances are staggered by age, ranging from 0.2 miles to 0.5 miles.
Awards will recognize the top three male and female runners in each timed race. Age category awards will not be offered. Dogs and strollers are not allowed.
On-site parking will not be available for the Monster Run. Shuttle buses will transport runners from the Macy’s entrance at Southridge Mall to the race site between 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Non-perishable food items will be collected for Feeding America at the Monster Run in Milwaukee.
