The Beast of Bray Road is named after the rural road the creature was first spotted on in 1949. The road is just outside Elkhorn Wisconsin. Since this original report, the creature has been spotted in other areas of North America, from southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois to as far as Vancouver Island in Canada.

The Beast of Bray Road has been described as a bear-like creature, as well as very large wolf-like animal. Other reports go as far as to claim that the creature walks on two legs, thus resembling a Sasquatch or Bigfoot. There are other claims that perhaps the Beast of Bray Road is actually a shapeshifter of some kind, either a were-bear or a werewolf.

There were a number of significant sightings of the Beast of Bray Road during the 1980s and the 1990s. A variety of sightings were covered by the newspaper Walworth Country Week. Reporter Linda Godfrey was so impressed with the sincerity of witnesses that she later built a book around her articles. This book was titled The Beast of Bray Road: Trailing Wisconsin’s Werewolf.

In 2002, a film, known as “The Gable Film,” supposedly caught a bulky creature moving on all fours that attempts to attack the camera operator. Some believed that the film captured footage of the Beast of Bray Road. Subsequently, this film was confirmed as a fake.

In 2005, The Asylum released the movie The Beast of Bray Road. Directed by Leigh Scott, the movie was inspired by the reports of the creature throughout the years.
