The Monmouth Park Thoroughbred racing season is officially history. With that comes the final and exciting results of top jockey, trainer and stable for 2013 which were announced yesterday in a press release from Monmouth Park racetrack.
This year Paco Lopez won the season for top jockey bringing in 99 wins during the season with over $3 million in earnings. He beat out Elvis Trujillo and Gabriel Saez who had 57 and 54 wins, respectively.
Leading trainer went to Jorge Navarro with 47 wins. A native of Panama, this was his first trainer’s title ever. Second place finisher was Edward Plesa, Jr. who had 42 wins for the season.
Red Oak Stable and High Point Thoroughbred Partners tied as top owners for the 2013 meet. Red Oak had 17 wins during the Monmouth Park meet earning over $478,000 in purse money. High Point Thoroughbred also had 17 wins and earned over $344,000 in purse money.

Even though the Monmouth Park meet is over there is still time to catch some live Thoroughbred racing in New Jersey. The Meadowlands will be open Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays from October 11 through November 2 with the exception of Monday, Oct. 21.
