Monkey see, monkey do; parenting by example.

Being a parent is the greatest blessing we are given and the toughest thing you’ll ever do. God in trusts us with a child and we are then supposed to raise the child in the ways of the Lord and teach the child how to be a good person, trusted adult, hard worker, compassionate, God fearing and the list goes on. The seemingly impossible task is taken on everyday my thousands of couples and singles as well. One of the most basic and Important parts of parenting is to be a good example. The phase monkey see, monkey do comes to mind. Your child is going to repeat what he sees you doing and how he sees you living your life.

Taking parenting classes to help you understand the new responsibility you just taken on is a good idea and they have many online so that you don’t even have to go anywhere. Many parents take the live and learn approach to their parenting and while there was a day when that’s just what you did, there is now help available to address issues about parenting. In the next few articles I’m going to talk about and review some parenting classes and parenting topics that are important to anyone who is a parent or wishes to become a parent.

As a prelude to the next article, I challenge you to watch how much your child or a child of a friend or family member acts like their parent. I can promise if you sit back and really watch you’ll not only be extremely entertained, but amazed about the influence parents and their ideas, choices, and beliefs affect their children. At which time it should also scare you when you realize that everything you say and do is being seen by your child. How you parent has an extreme impact on your child, how are you parenting? Are you aware of how your life, actions, and beliefs affect your child? Whether you intend to or not, you are teaching your child every minute of every day you are with them. What are you teaching your child right now?
