Monique Lhuillier is the queen of opulent style and fashion, and this was reflected in her red carpet worthy fall 2013 fashion week runway show, according to a Feb. 9 Associated Press report.
Everything from the colors to the styles and the specific attention to details showed fashionistas the reasons why Lhuillier may rule the 2013 Academy Awards red carpet. According to the Associated Press, “Opulent Art Deco touches and intense tones of malachite green, oxblood red and amethyst were Monique Lhuillier's red carpet calling cards Saturday at New York Fashion Week.”
Sexy thigh-high slits on malachite hued masterpieces, bold red flowy dresses with hints of sexy lace, infusions of yellow broacade and black lace dresses dominated the runway. The beaded details, a throwback to the designer’s intricate wedding dress designs are a tribute to the red carpet glamour done right.
“Well you know, every time I start a collection I always say, 'What haven't I don't before, what's exciting, what's new, what do I want to accomplish this season?’” said Lhuillier. “So I wanted this girl to be super sexy. It's dramatic, mixed in with a little Art Deco, and just really intense color and intense structure.”
The designer nailed her vision. The collection is everything she wanted it to inspire: super sexy, art deco, dramatic, and intense color and structure. The fit, the flow, the styles and ease of wear all speak to a talent and eye for the luxe comfort.
The collection has something for everyone: cocktail dresses, floor length evening gowns, brocade jackets, tweed coats, sleek pants, fitted gowns, and uber sexy styles for those who dare to bare a thigh or two.
The Associated Press reports that Lhuillier “wanted to be darker, more sensual, and a little stronger and more confident” fall collection runway. “You'll have to wait and see but, um, anything is possible,” she smiled.
As usual the runway would not be complete with stars vying for a first look at their favorite designer. Connie Britton in a “fitted black Lhuillier” and Bridget Moynahan in a red number both scored prime front row seats and called the collection “pretty fantastic” and the designer, “a good friend to have.”
“You always feel good in her clothes. I was just saying for all these award ceremonies that have been going on and coming in the next couple of weeks, every woman fights for her dresses,” Moynahan said.
One hopes the actresses win that fight because it would be a treat for fashionistas to rock these dresses at on the Oscars 2013 red carpet.
