Monica Spear 7 arrests: Clues provide more evidence for authorities

In the Monica Spear case 7 arrests have been made in her robbery and death, as well as her husband's, Thomas Henry Berry. A digital camera that was stolen from the former Miss Venezuela and Berry held evidence authorities needed to capture the alleged murderers. New York Daily News reported Jan. 10 that this band of criminals targeted motorists on the isolated stretch of highway near Puerto Cabello.

Spear and Berry were robbed at gunpoint and killed last Monday night in front of their five-year-old daughter after their car had two punctured tires.

Commissioner Jose Gregorio Sierralta confirmed that a camera belonging to Spear was discovered during a search inside the "home of one of the people arrested for the killing of the pair." At first there were five arrested in the Monica Spear murder but now 7 arrests have been made.

Spear and Berry were returning to Caracas on vacation when they were stranded on the highway. Sierralta said the criminal group was led by a "32-year-old known as 'Fat Danilo,' who was among those arrested. He said at least 11 people took part in the crime and four remained fugitives," according to the report.

A 19-year-old man may have been the lone shooter within the band of the criminals.

Sierralta added that the ringleader gave the younger men in the gang guns and drugs. The type of drugs supplied were not elaborated upon.

This investigation is being aggressively pursued.

Now that the tragedy of Monica Spear and her husband have 7 arrests into this investigation, will there be more?
