No longer, Miss Thing – Monica Denise Brown performed in front of thousands on Sunday at the 8th Annual, Jazz in the Gardens music-festival this past weekend in Miami Gardens, FL at the Sun Life Stadium.
Looking absolutely stunning from head-to-toe, Monica held her own as part of the Day 2 line-up performances which also included the phenomenal Mary Mary, Ne-Yo and the critically-acclaimed, American band – Earth, Wind & Fire.
Grammy award-winner, Monica sung from a place of familiarity as thousands of concert goers sang along to her Billboard Top 10 smash-hits “Angel of Mine”, “Don’t Take it Personal” and "So Gone".
In the spirit of sisterhood, R&B songstress – Monica revealed inside the Jazz in the Gardens / Press Room that if she could embark on an All-Female Tour with a group of ladies from the past and/or present she would want a telling narrative to give back to the fans.
I would love to go on tour with Mary J. Blige…Fantasia…I would love to have even Keyshia there!!!”
Speaking of Keyshia Cole, earlier on Monday upon the release of Beyoncé’s “Bow Down/I Been On” new-music preview – Cole took to @Twitter to voice her disapproval of the song; also calling Beyoncé “Self-Righteous”.
Most shockingly, Beyoncé fans ripped Cole a new one, almost Keri Hilson style but far worse in such a short period. Although, this is a free country – are fans more outraged at her bluntness or the brainy idea, Cole could actually be right?
She may have thought – you’re already Mrs. Carter, don’t give fans an opportunity or the ammunition to glorify ‘beef’ with other artists – especially any further than what the ‘media’ already speculates. Truly, that may not have been her intention for the song in question, but why not an album-filler versus a buzz-single, Bey?
In 2013, in a declining music-sales industry and in state were ‘unity’ among female-artists is at an all-time low; could this have happened at a worst time?
It’s like Monica pointed out so eloquently on Sunday – following her first-time, Jazz in the Gardens performance – if the ladies of R&B/Soul were packaged collectively in an All-Female Tour scenario; as supporting fans…
You get so many different types of females, you get diversity, you get amazing voices BUT you also give…story”
I think we would tell a really strong story”
Monica’s seventh studio album, NEW LIFE is in stores now.
