Two urgent dogs at The Waterbury Dog Pound have an angel looking out for them. With the hope that the lives of Gilrov (#235) and Ianna (#234) will be spared, an anonymous donor has pledged $100.00 for each dog to the 501(c)(3) rescue that will take in either or both. The pledge will be honored by a donation made directly to the organization(s).
The rescue community is shaken by the news of 12 lives lost at The Waterbury Dog Pound late last week. Dogs were killed without warning or adequate opportunity to advocate for their placement. Lack of exposure for adoptable dogs along with greatly reduced adoption hours have caused animals at this facility to be more endangered than they have been in some time.
The Waterbury Dog Pound is located at 200 Municipal Rd. They can be reached by calling (203) 574-6909. Additionally, a volunteer Facebook page, Friends of The Waterbury Dog Pound, contains updates and further information as it is made available.
** As of December 27, 2013 Gilrov is SAFE! **
** Ianna now has an additional $100 pledge by another person who chooses to remain anonymous. This pledge will be honored in the same manner as outlined above. **
** As of December 28, 2013 Ianna is SAFE! **
