Monette Moio is the woman denigrated in Elliot Rodger’s manifesto. The world is finding out that she is an aspiring model who rejected alleged mass murderer Elliot Rodger when they were young. Yet, Moio’s father says that his daughter scarcely remembers Rodger, according to a New York Post report on Sunday.
In a 141-page manifesto which Rodger wrote prior to killing six people and injuring 13 others in California on Friday night, Monette Moio was chastised as an evil bitch. Rodger wrote that Monette ignited his fear of girls which only got worse in time. However, her father – veteran Hollywood stuntman John Moio – claims that his daughter was far too young at the time she knew Rodger to have been a mean, cruel and heartless woman as portrayed in the manifesto. John Moio, 75, says that his daughter was only 10 years old at the time.
The father of the woman says that Rodger was a year older than his daughter and that his daughter only remembers Rodger as being odd. He also said that his daughter is devastated over the whole thing. He said that Rodger is a sociopath, according to the Daily Mail, and he claims that it is like his daughter is being implicated in this terrible tragedy for something she hasn’t done and can’t remember.
The father said that perhaps the girls his daughter hung around with poked fun at him, but he insists that his daughter was not a bully. He defends her by saying she is one of the sweetest people one could ever meet. In summation, the Mr. Moio said, “<Rodger> was weird then, and he’s weird now.”
The father also spoke to Rodger’s mention of his son, actor Ashton Moio. Though Rodger wrote in the manifesto that he resented Ashton Moio for being popular, the father says that wasn’t the case. He said his son was not popular in school. He said that his son had his troubles and was a normal kid.
Monette Moio works at the Equinox Gym in Woodland Hills, California. She lives with her mother who is talent agent and photographer Monique Strong. Her brother, Ashton, is a supporting actor in “Twisted,” an ABC Family network series. He also had a small role in the “Hunger Games,” a project which Rodger’s dad – Peter Rodger – worked on as a second unit director.
On Friday, Rodger stabbed three persons - his two roommates and another student - and then shot and killed two sorority girls and another male. His manifesto, in which Monette Moio's name surfaced, details how girls had rejected him. He hated women and the men who were with them.
