Monday Memories: Easy ways to capture memories at family gatherings

Holidays and special occasions are a time of joy laughter. Share your memories with future generations by using one of these simple yet meaningful creations.

  • Purchase a fabric table cloth light in color along with washable fabric markers. Invite everyone at the table to sign and date their name. Once the event is over, use a simple embroidery technique to make the memories permanent. The changing signatures of both young and old will be a treasure in years to come.
  • During gatherings or family events place several baskets containing notecards and pens in various locations around the room. Invite friends and family to record their memories of the day for others to enjoy. Store the cards in a box or scrapbook to remember your special time together.
  • If your family is one of faith, keep a Bible or holy book in a central location in your home. Encourage your spouse or children to highlight their favorite verses or note their thoughts on important passages. Invite grandparents and cousins to note their favorite verses and passages during visits to your home. Include in the front of the Bible a note indicating each family member by initials so that the notes and highlighting can be identified later. This simple activity will leave a legacy of faith to future generations.
