Monday edition: The modern man's guide to cutting edge style

Cutting edge says it all: daring, flamboyance and totally out-of-the-box. Menswear for spring/summer 2014 has been breaking the fashion lines and the cutting edge trend does not disappoint.

Spring/Summer 2014

Giorgio Armani

Giorgio Armani refreshes the classics for his spring/summer 2014 collection. Abstract prints cover sweaters and cardigans, finished with medium-sized buttons. Also revealed was a color palette of deep blues, skin tones and teals.

Dolce & Gabbana

This year, Dolce and Gabbana drew inspiration from their rich heritage for a lavish collection, with Italian architecture, sculptures and Roman coins screen-printed on everything from flowing tees to slim shorts. Ultra-tailored suits and gladiator sandals were also in abundance.

Athleticism, idealism, discipline and freedom: these are the powerful attributes of the Versace man. The proud athleticism of the body, with sports tape worn as if a new tattoo, a decoration which appears as a detail on garments. The freedom of extravagant prints, such as knitwear featuring the photographs of Marilyn Monroe by Bert Stern, the images colour-blocked and over painted by hand. Footwear is both smart and soft, with slip-on shoes in soft leather that can be worn with the back trodden down.

Flower power with subdued color palettes is what Gucci's menswear is all about for the season. The newest items for the Spring 2014 collection are classic leather sneakers which accompanied every single outfit along with oversized weekend bags.

From blue hues, ranges of reds, neutrals, patterns and prints, the modern man can mix it up with "versa style" this season.
