The ski season will officially close when the lifts shut down at Alpine Meadows on May 11. But what a close it will be.
Moms need only to bring one of their children to the ticket window, or a birth certificate, to launch onto the slopes for free. Not only that, but $1 mimosas for all moms over 21 will be available at the base lodge on Mother's Day.
Richmond and Brouse aid this:
"Alpine Meadows will be open for skiing and riding Friday, May 9 through Sunday, May 11 – with chairlifts spinning from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Guests can ski or ride for free with the purchase of a 2014-15 season pass. Sunday, May 11 marks the final day of the 2013-14 ski season."
Amazing that the season has made it to now at any resort. It was a true up and down ride, from late autumn all the way through to spring. The resorts had a busy year making snow as the skies didn't cooperate very well.
The snow that did fall came in odd bursts, but it was generally really good skiable snow. The combination of man made and natural snow did make for a decent season overall.
Alpine Meadows is the last Tahoe ski resort open. Anyone wanting one last run to tide them over till the snow falls next season will need to head to Alpine Meadows this weekend.
After that, the season really is over.
