The “Moms Against Poverty Fundraiser” will take place on September 17, 2011 from 8pm to 1am. This exciting fundraiser will not only raise money for children at both local and global levels, the event will be an evening to remember. The “Moms Against Poverty Fundraiser will be held in San Francisco and is being hosted by Moms Against Poverty, a non-profit organization comprised of Bay Area Moms who are changing the world one child at a time.
Delfarib Fanaie, Executive Director Moms Against Poverty or MAP: “At MAP, it is our core belief that other than food and shelter, every child deserves a chance to learn and to hope for a brighter future regardless of where they are born. While our work extends across the globe, we are also very aware of the needs of children living in poverty right here in the Bay Area. That is why we partner with various organizations throughout the area. And this fundraiser helps us continue our work here and abroad.”
Guests of the event will enjoy an authentic Mediterranean dinner, dancing to tunes from DJ Dr. T and an exciting auction.
Proceeds from the Mom Against Poverty Fundraiser will directly benefit MAP’s projects here in the San Francisco Bay Area as well as throughout the world. MAP supports local projects such as the training of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) volunteer, providing food baskets for children and families at San Francisco’s Bryant Child Development Center and for families at the Bret Harte Child Development Center.
There are currently about 15 million children in the United States living below the federal poverty line which equates to about 21% of all children according to the National Center for Children in Poverty (NCCP).
