There was a lot of activity in the barn around the manger...several shepherds, other visitors and animals, let alone Mary and Joseph. The natural reaction would be to chat and talk about it all. It was so exciting! So everyone did talk to each other about what God had done, sent the little Messiah, at last! But there was one quiet spirit in the barn.
Her name was Mary. She loved her God and her Baby. She wanted to take it all in. There's a line in a program on Laura Ingalls Wilder where she says she wants to capture every moment of her life with her writing. Life is so precious and cameras, videos, pens and our our minds capture our moments so we can ponder them now and later. Moments help us understand life and God. They give us direction. They can help us hear God when compared with His word.
It's wise to say little and contemplate the Lord. Savior, this Christmas help us to contemplate You, rejoicing in the wonder of Your coming for us. Let us take time to be near You. Help us capture in one way or another the meaningful, precious moments of our Christmas. In Jesus' Name I pray ... Amen
But Mary kept all these sayings, pondering them in her heart. (Luke 2:19 ASV)
