A 26-year-old mother was killed along with her newborn child in a collision Saturday afternoon in Cherokee County.
The woman’s 3-year-old daughter was also injured in the wreck, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators said the wreck happened at the intersection of Victory Drive and Woodstock Road near Acworth.
Ms. Tiffany Robbins, of Acworth, was driving a Honda Accord onto Woodstock Road from Victory Drive when she pulled into the path of truck traveling north on Woodstock Road, the sheriff’s spokeswoman Lt. Jay Baker said.
“Ms. Robbins, who was 7 months pregnant, was conscious and alert at the accident scene,” Lt. Baker said.
She and her 3-year-old daughter who was restrained in a car seat in the rear had visible injuries and were transported to Kennestone Hospital.
“An emergency C-Section was performed on Robbins at Kennestone yesterday afternoon and the baby did not survive,” Lt. Baker said. “After that procedure Ms. Robbins also died from apparent internal injuries.”
The driver of the truck was not seriously injured and was not transported to a hospital. The condition of the 3-year-old was not available late Sunday.
