A horror story that has come to light has one mother quite traumatized. Lori Baker received a call from the medical examiner’s office in error telling her that her daughter Samantha Kennedy died as a result of a car accident.

On March 20, NBC and CBS News reported that Lori Baker was devastated about hearing of her child’s death. The Pierce County Medical Examiner in Washington State had a photo and a tattoo which they used to identify Samantha. Only to find out they were mistaken.

When she went to the medical examiner’s office to make a positive identification herself she was turned away stating she could not see her daughter’s body due to a biohazard.

Lori even sat down and started to create the obituary about her twenty-four year old daughter. This was another painful experience. While she was waiting for the release of her daughter she contacted family, friends and begun arrangements with the funeral parlor. Then she comes to find out the girl in the morgue wasn’t her daughter. Now she is both relieved and furious.

The emotional pain and suffering she went though thinking her baby died and that the medical examiner’s office confirmed her identity. The mortician made a huge identification mistake. This is not just a little mix-up; this error in identification has caused a lot of pain and suffering and emotional stress on Lori.

Lori Baker is quite relieved to know that her child, Samantha Kennedy is still alive but has been missing for several days.

Hopefully the medical examiner’s office will double check the identities before notifying parents in the future!
