Mom on life support baby: Brain-dead mom has baby while on life support

A mom on life support gave birth to a baby last week. On Feb. 11, ABC News reported that Robyn Benson, 32, of Victoria, Canada was kept on life support after a massive brain bleed when she was about 22 weeks pregnant. Doctors kept the woman alive for the sake of her baby. Iver was born at 28 weeks.

"It is with a heavy heart but also with extreme proudness (sic) that I am posting this update. On Saturday evening, my beautiful and amazing son, Iver Cohen Benson, was born," Dylan Benson wrote on his blog Monday night.

The mom on life support won't see her baby and while her story is fascinating, it's also devastating. Since Robyn was kept alive for the sake of her baby, she has been taken off life support following the birth of her son. Given the fact that Iver was born premature, his dad knows that it's going to be a long, hard road -- but the fact that Dylan and Iver have each other -- and that Dylan gets to keep a piece of his wife alive -- well, that's the real miracle here.

"Iver is healthy and is the cutest and most precious person I have ever met," said Dylan in his post, sharing the photo above. He thanked all of his family, friends, and supporters for sticking by him and helping him (and his son) on this incredible yet heartbreaking journey.

The mom on life support's baby will be loved and cherished by his dad and -- if you believe in this sort of thing -- already has an angel looking down on him.
