Five years ago, local company, Mom Made® Foods got its start at the Del Ray Farmers' Market. Since then business has boomed, but they never forgot where they came from. Locally based, Mom Made Foods has been producing and selling organic and natural frozen children’s food since 2006 after getting its start first at the Del Ray Farmers' Market before expanding to a regional then national audience.
In honor of their anniversary, the folks at Mom Made Foods will be back at Del Ray on Saturday marking the occasion with a community celebration and selling all five varieties of Mom Made Munchies for $1, with the proceeds going to support the farmers' market. Knowing their 'audience', they will also hold a children’s "Munchie Toss" game and give out goodie bags filled with local business give-aways.
"It feels really good to return to the Del Ray Farmers' Market," said company founder Heather Stouffer. "Mom Made is all about real people making real food, and celebrating with other local businesses and our community who have supported us since the start is really exciting."
Mom Made Foods was founded by Heather Stouffer of Alexandria, VA. With nine frozen meals and snacks for children, using organic, all natural and antibiotic-free ingredients, Mom Made takes the foods kids love and makes them healthier. Mom Made Meals, Mom Made Munchies, and Mom Made Bites give parents a guilt-free way to give their kids the foods they love." While fans can now find Mom Made Foods nationally, the company is grateful to the Mid-Atlantic Whole Foods stores who were the first ones to carry their products.
"We couldn’t be happier to welcome Mom Made Foods back to our market," said Pat Miller, the manager of the Del Ray Farmers' Market. "Mom Made is a local success story, and we are so proud of Heather and the company, and very thankful that Mom Made is helping the market with the proceeds of their Munchie sales during the celebration."
Mom Made Foods will be at the market from 8:00 a.m. until noon on Saturday June 4th.
