Before having children, NBC's 'The Biggest Loser' star Jillian Michaels would say everybody, including parents, should be able to make the time to exercise. But now that she has had two children herself, Michaels is admitting that she fully appreciates how difficult it can be to find the time to workout.
“There was a transition period,” explained an exhausted Michaels on the Rachel Ray show. But she’s now figured out ways to incorporate exercise into her busy life as a mom. Here are three things that she does to be sure to fit workouts in around caring for her children.
- Fast and effective workouts are the only way to go. Just 20-30 minutes of exercise a day will make a difference, but Jillian says if it’s going to be quick, it must be effective, otherwise you’re just wasting your time. Getting uncomfortable when you exercise is the only way to change and maintain the shape of your body.
- DVD’s at home are a must because they’re motivating, convenient and offer some of the best workouts available today. There are countless choices in exercise DVD’s with everything being offered from kickboxing, yoga, Zumba, circuit training and barre. Here are 7 of the best.
- Exercise with your kids. Michaels’ daughter loves doing yoga, especially downward facing dog. She gets to spend quality time with her child, set a good example and at the same time, get her workout in. A bonus is if you start exercising with your kids at a young age they’ll grow accustomed to it and maybe even incorporate it into their own lives.
